4:00 pm - 4:45 pm    Uncle John and the Hollis Trio

“Uncle John” Booker and Lane Hollis started working together 35 years ago in Pitt County. They’ve been through many bands together and separately through the years, but nothing is any better than playing with talented youngsters like Sarah and Dustin. Sarah is Lane’s daughter and Dustin is his nephew. But as Lane says, “When it comes to going on stage with someone, you have to pull your weight and they do! We’re looking forward to this show.” This group has performed their exciting bluegrass music to a cheering crowd of BCTMA fans at previous BoCO Traditional Music Festivals.

5:00 pm - 5:45 pm    Twisted Knot

Twisted Knot is a Greenville-based quintet of excellent veteran musicians. They present an Irish take on eclectic acoustic music, performing traditional tunes. Band founder Mamie Dixon plays fiddle, mandolin, and percussions; lead singer Rebecca Hall plays keyboards; Jim Joseph and Sylvia Bjorkman play guitar; and Catherine Walker plays soprano recorder. This is the first time Twisted Knot has performed for BCTMA and we look forward to their exciting music.

6:00 pm - 6:45 pm    J.D. Joyner

J.D. Joyner grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and discovered his passion - and talent - for the guitar early on. He began playing at the age of 12 and his self-taught fingerstyle performances led to local recognition and stage time with various rock, jazz, country and gospel bands. J.D. has also been teaching guitar lessons for over 10 years and many of his students have gone on to become performers in their own rights. He received official endorsement by C.F. Martin Guitars in 2004, and has performed solo sets for events across the state of North Carolina. He even takes his passion overseas, providing guitar backup for church services during his mission trips to Sri Lanka. JD has played his wonderful brand of music for BCTMA a number of times. His guitar skills are amazing, and his performance is sure to please you.

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm     John Howie Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff

To many in the North Carolina music scene, John Howie, Jr. is a name that doesn’t need an introduction. With a career lasting over two decades he’s proven to be something of a country music legend, from his time spent with bands like Two Dollar Pistols and The Rosewood Bluff, to taking up drumming duties in Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. His songs have even been featured on television shows and movies. Howie is known for his straightforward, traditional style of country rock and his upbeat honky-tonk style. He and The Rosewood Bluff promise a rollicking show. He has performed his popular country sound for BCTMA before and is always a big hit!
