The Beaufort County Traditional Music Association is pleased to present a Third Thursday Showcase featuring an evening of rhythm and blues with Cathead Biscuit on November 16 from 7:00-9:00 PM. This Eastern NC band is composed of talented local musicians: Jeff Shirley and JB Mayes on electric guitar; Pamela Cox, lead singer; Robert McGaughy on percussion; and Jay Costello playing bass. They recently entertained Washington during the October 2023 Mac “Bear” Hodges Festival. Look for lots of fast-moving Chicago and Allman Brothers style blues, great guitar licks, and outstanding vocals.

Jeff Shirley hails from Green County but has called Greenville home since 1985. Jeff’s slick guitar style and vocals has made him an in-demand rhythm / lead guitar player in area groups for over 40 years

Originally from Clayton, N.C., J.B. Mayes has lived in Greenville since graduating from ECU. J.B. has a versatile lead guitar style that easily fits in with acoustic to rock / blues performers.

Washington’s own Pamela Cox is a familiar and popular performer at BCTMA events for many years. Her versatility as a vocalist is evident in her soulful interpretation of gospel, pop, rock, and blues songs.

Robert McGaughy hails from Snow Hill and has showcased his talents at many BCTMA shows. When not playing blues with Cathead Biscuit, Robert plays drums in a new/old country, southern rock band called "Borderline". He also pilots a corporate jet for a North Carolina company.

Jay Costello is a member of the BCTMA Board of Directors. He has played bass for the band since 2017. Jeff, Pam, JB and Robert also performed with Jay and Tiki Roadhouse during previous BCTMA Pamlico Opry events at the Turnage Theatre.

This family-friendly show kicks off at 7:00PM in the Turnage Theatre showcase gallery. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be available for purchase
