These guitarists will showcase contemporary tunes, blues, and jazz. Plus, don't miss David Jolley on banjo, treating us to some bluegrass favorites.

David Jolley

David is from Nashville, Tennessee, and has been performing there for many years. He has performed as a side man on the Grand Ole Opry and with various artists on the road including Ray Stevens, Crystal Gayle, Jimmy Dean, Vassar Clemmets, Jimmy Dickens and Connie Smith. He has kept busy playing sessions, entertaining at conventions, and appearing on the general Jackson Showboat and as a featured performer on the magnificent Mississippi Queen Steamboat. He also plays solo shows that include good humor and great music!

He has played music since he was 14, and has developed a proficient approach to finger style guitar reminiscent of Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed. He is equally at home on the banjo. His love for traditional country and bluegrass music is evident today as he plays and sings.

JD Joyner

JD Joyner has performed for BCTMA events several times, and we welcome his return for BCTMA’s Third Thursday Showcase on September 19. His performance is always marked with exciting guitar licks, an entertaining repertoire, and a friendly casual show. He plays finger style and focuses on jazz, blues, and contemporary music. He fell in love with the guitar at age 13, and has been playing and learning for these many years. He has been influenced by Les Paul, Chet Atkins, George Benson, Larry Carlton, The Beatles and early R&B Bands from the 60's.

He has played in several bands, including The Breeze Band and recently formed Classic Vinyl band based in Eastern NC. He has taught private guitar lessons and managed a retail music store (JD’s Guitar Shop) located in Rocky Mount, NC. JD frequently plays in Washington, NC area restaurants with Clay Steinwinter and plays solo corporate gigs in North Myrtle Beach during the year.

JD met David Jolley in Nashville, Tennessee on the General Jackson Show Boat 20 years ago. They have played together once in Nashville on The General Jackson Show Boat and several duo gigs in Eastern NC. Special music for the performance includes guitar duos, and a couple of new solo guitar arrangements that JD has been working on.
