Back Porch Session with Bob Daw and Friends at the Turnage Theatre

Join us at the Turnage Theatre Gallery for a fun Variety Show of laid-back music with Bob Daw and Friends.  This BCTMA Variety Show takes place on February 16, from 7:00-9:00. Come enjoy a taste of old country songs, blues, mountain tunes, and rock and roll. Performers include Bob Daw, Jay Costello, Beth Harden, Bobby Moore, Vail Stewart Rumley, and Linda Boyer. These musicians from the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association will be playing some of their favorite songs for you.

Bob Daw is hosting the event, and wants to bring you a program reminiscent of the fish suppers he hosts at his Man Cave at Blounts Creek.  Music and laughter mark these gatherings.  Bob’s mellow guitar style and vocals will be sure to move you as he plays songs from his roots here in Eastern North Carolina.  He will also accompany several of his guests.

Beth Harden joins us from the tradition of the Beaufort County Orchestra.  She will be playing flute along with Bob on some tunes, adding to a fun blend of instruments and vocals. They call their duo the “Blounts Creek Bowfins”.  When not making music, she can be found at Blounts Creek gardening and crabbing and enjoying the wildlife there.

Vail Stewart Rumley is well known in music circles for her sultry blues vocals. She is a full-time communications director for an environmental nonprofit, a part-time yoga teacher, wine bar bartender and Washington Magazine contributor. Every now and then, she sings too!  It is a treat to hear her!

Bobby Moore plays old country songs that often tell a story.  His clear guitar picking complements his voice as he sings of early mornings and old men who want to sing in the choir.  He easy going tunes have been enjoyed for several years at the BCTMA Programs at the Washington Senior Center.

BCTMA member Jay Costello enjoys performing a wide range of songs from different musical genres. He recently played bass with the blues band “Cathead Biscuit” during the January 2023 Don Skinner Guitarfest.  He’ll be taking a break from his role as BCTMA’s Facebook guru and is looking forward to playing his guitar for our February show.

Linda Boyer brings a bit of the Appalachian Mountains to the show with her clawhammer banjo. She loves to sing and play songs that make your feet tap and bring a smile to your lips. She always enjoys making music with her friends.

Admission to the Variety Show is free and donations are appreciated. This event is Family Friendly!
